The service began with the reading of a proclamation by State Representative Mike Day. The proclamation officially recognizes the anniversary of the fire station, the celebration and the members of the fire department that have served in this historic building. Following the reading of the proclamation, the department held a memorial remembrance where the names of all deceased Stoneham Firefighters were read. The remembrance was performed by Captain James Marshall, Lieutenant John Galla, Firefighter Scott Greenleaf and Firefighter James McLaughlin Jr. The last portion of the service was the parade awards. Awards were given to the Cambridge Fire Department for newest piece of apparatus, Goffstown Fire Department for oldest piece of apparatus, Mr. Ron Von Essen for furthest travelled and to Mr. Doug Boudrow for best antique. Mr. Von Essen was also presented with a Stoneham Engine 2 helmet shield in recognition of his ownership of a 1931 Seagrave that once served as Stoneham Engine 2. |
