METROFIRE SPECIAL FEATURE

RESPECT THE PIC!

In 1993 a book was published titled The Fire Buffs Guide to Boston and the MetroFire Communities. This book was an amazing accumulation of information and photographs from all of the Metro Boston fire departments. Information included town/city details, apparatus rosters, station locations, photos, and even what time of day was best to shoot the apparatus at each station. To mark the 15th anniversary of this wonderful publication I am putting together a special feature that will show the changes that have taken place in each department over the last fifteen years. Originally I was going to post photos of apparatus that were in service at that time and that are in service now, but I've decided to instead feature apparatus from "past and present" that will go back as far as the photos available will take me. If you have photos of older trucks that are currently not online at firenews, please feel free to send them along. Same goes for any pertinent information for the Metro departments. I have created and posted the Stoneham page as a start. You can see the gist of what I'm doing is.

Dave Cumming has made this pretty cool Google map that shows the locations of fire stations in the METROFIRE departments. Check it out at Click Here.
