Connecticut- With the pending closure of the Colchester Emergency Communications Center, departments that utilized the service will have to seek other agencies for their dispatching duties. As of July 1, the Town of Marlborough will be dispatched by Tolland County Mutual Aid (www.tollandcounty911.org). The towns of Colchester, Salem, and Bozrah will be going to Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications (www.qvec.org). East Hampton looks to be going to the Town of Glastonbury dispatch. Haddam Neck and the Marlborough/Middlesex Medics will be going to Valley Shore Dispatch (www.valleyshore911.org).

Bridgeport, Connecticut Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $2,698,087.00 to hire 17 Firefighters.

Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association– has received a Federal grant in the amount of $1,155,038 for a Call/Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Program.

Cromwell, Connecticut Fire Department- has named Deputy Chief Michael Salonia as Acting Fire Chief.

Danbury, Connecticut Fire Department- has promoted Terence Timan to Deputy Fire Marshal.

Enfield Fire District 1, Connecticut– has received a Federal grant in the amount of $376,400 for 58 Firefighter Breathing Apparatus and 24 Face Pieces.

Hartford, Connecticut Fire Department- Fire Chief Carlos Huertas will retire on Wednesday January 13th after 35 years of service. Interim Assistant Fire Chief Scott Brady has been named as Interim Fire Chief.

Hartford, Connecticut Fire Department- Firefighter Jason Martinez, who was injured at the October 7, 2014 fire that claimed the life of Firefighter Kevin Bell, has returned to full duty. Also, Retired Deputy Chief of training Frank Costello will return as the Assistant Chief of the Hartford Fire Department on Monday 2/1/16.

Hartford, Connecticut Fire Department- has appointed Reginald Freeman as the new Fire Chief.

Hartford, Connecticut Fire Department- Firefighter Jeffrey Vendetta has retired after 21 years of service with Hartford Fire.

Harwinton, Connecticut Fire Department- Volunteer Fire Chief John D. Fredsall has stepped down after 20 years as fire chief. William Buys Jr was elected to take over the fire chief's position. With this changes the following promotions have been made:
Terry Ferrarotti has been made deputy chief and training officer
Dave Bousquet has been promoted to captain
Martin Rinko, Keith Whitecross, Stephen MacDonald and Andrew Smail have been promoted to Lieutenant.
Spencer Howe was named as a commissioner
Bill Smith was named Secretary and Charlie Kirchofer was named Treasurer.

Ledyard, Connecticut Fire Department- has elected 23 year old Jon Mann to be the new fire chief.

Mansfield, Connecticut Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $ 243,334 for Firefighter Breathing Apparatus.

Meriden, Connecticut Fire Department- Lieutenant Maggie Bender has retired after 31 years of service. She was Meriden's first female firefighter.

Middletown, Connecticut Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $285,081 for 43 - Firefighter Breathing Apparatus.

Middletown, Connecticut Fire Department- Albert Leary has been appointed as Deputy Chief.

Somers, Connecticut Fire Department- after naming John Roache as the department's first paid fire chief, the town elimited the position of paid Deputy Chief. Frank M. Falcone Jr. will remain a volunteer Deputy Chief, however will no longer have a paid position within the department. Mid-year cuts from the state and the need for only one paid fire chief were cited by town officials as the reasons for the decision.

Watertown, Connecticut Fire Department- has placed into service a 2016 Chevy Suburban LS as EMS 7.

Waterbury, Connecticut Fire Department- Engine 8's 2014 Spartan MetroStar/Gowans Knight apparatus was returned to service on September 14 after suffering extensive damage in a 2015 accident with another vehicle. Gowans Knight of Watertown rebuilt the appartaus, including a new chassis, to "like new" condition.
