Maine- The Acadia Leadership Institute (ALI) will bring back the Jr. Firefighting Academy at Camp Beech Cliff (CBC) for its third year from July 18-22. CLICK FOR ARTICLE.

Alna, Maine- has voted to switch from Wiscasset Ambulance Service to Central Lincoln County (CLC) Ambulance in Damariscotta for transporting ambulance service.

Arundel, Maine Fire Department- the substation located at 550 Old Post Road is being officially decommissioned. The station is in poor shape and had been used only to store excess equipment for the town. The land is leased by the town and in accordance with the agreement, the land which the station sits on will be returned to the family that leased them the property.

Bridgewater, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal Grant in the amount of $7,620 for 10 Firefighter Breathing Apparatus Cylinders.

Danforth, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $34,143.00 for an Air Compressor / Air Refill System.

Dedham-Lucerne, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal Grant in the amount of $34,143 for a Firefighter Breathing Apparatus Air Fill System.

Dixfield, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $89,143 for 13 - Firefighter Breathing Apparatus.

Fryeburg, Maine Fire Department- Andrew Dufresne took the reigns as Fire Chief in late September after Chief Ozzie Sheaff retired.

Gray, Maine Fire Department- has changed their apparatus designations to a 40 series of numbers. (Engine 1 is now Engine 41 as an example). This was done to eliminate confusion over the radio.

Hampden, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $16,378 for a Turnout Gear Washer & Dryer.

Harrison, Maine Fire Department- Engine 4's 2002 Freightliner/Central States received heavy damage when it struck a patch of ice while travelling down a steep road. It rolled over into a wooded area at the bottom of the road. Fortunately there were only minor injuries reported and other than the truck, the equipment on the vehicle appeared to be undamaged.

Harrison, Maine Fire Department- the 2000 Freightliner pumper damaged in the rollover was deemed to be totaled. The department has been granted funds up to the amount of the insurance payout to purchase a replacement pumper.

Holden, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $52,381 for an Air Refill System & Compressor.

Howland, Maine Fire Department- has selected Josh McNally to be the new fire chief. The Fire Chief in Howland is a paid-part time position, so Josh will continue being a full time firefighter/paramedic in Orono.

Kezar Falls, Maine Fire Department- has placed into service a 1988 GMC/E-One rescue truck. The unit had previously served in Ayer, Mass and was purchased from Greenwood Emergency Vehicles in North Attleboro.

Lewiston, Maine Fire Department- has placed into service a 2016 Ford Interceptor for Utility 420, which is the fire chief's vehicle.

Limestone, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $120,000 for 18 – Firefighter Breathing Apparatus.

Lisbon, Maine Fire Department- has taken delivery of a 2016 Ford Explorer Police Package. It is assigned as Car 1, which is a command vehicle.

Livermore Falls, Maine Fire Department- voters approved funds to determine the work and costs involved to repair and upgrade the fire station.

Livermore Falls, Maine Fire Department- has selected Chesterville Fire Chief Ed Hastings to be the new Fire Chief of Livermore Falls.

Livermore Falls, Maine Fire Department- voters approved funds to build a new fire station. The old station on Park Street will be torn down and the new station will be built at the same site.

Maine Firefighting Academy– has received a Federal grant in the amount of $250,392 for the purchase of Firefighting Equipment, Firefighter Breathing Apparatus and Turnout Gear.

Minot, Maine Fire Department- has appointed Dean Campbell as the new Fire Chief.

New Gloucester, Maine Fire Department- has selected James Ladewig to be the new fire chief.

North Lakes, Maine Fire and Rescue- has received a $10,000 Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation grant to purchase ice and water rescue equipment.

Pittston, Maine Fire Department- is in the process of accepting bids to build a new East Pittston Fire Station.

Portland, Maine Fire Department- Assistant Fire Chief David Jackson has been selected to be the new fire chief.

Portland, Maine Fire Department- has changed their numbering system (again) removing the zeros from the number. Example: Engine 301 is now Engine 31. Ladder 31's 1993 Pierce Arrow 85' Snorkel has been removed from service and the company will be running with a spare ladder until a new rig can be ordered.

Sorrento, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal Grant in the amount of $30,658 for a Turnout Gear Washer / Dryer and Hose.

South Portland, Maine Fire Department- has selected Deputy Chief Jim Wilson to be the new Fire Chief.

Thomaston, Maine Fire Department- has promoted Deputy Chief Mikial Mazzeo to Fire Chief and Assistant Chief Jamie Leo to Deputy Chief.

Troy, Maine Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $47,162.00 for 8 - Firefighter Breathing Apparatus.

Turner, Maine Rescue- Lisa Bennett has been appointed as the new Rescue Chief.

Waterboro, Maine Fire Department- has placed into service a new rehabilitation unit designated Rehab 1. The vehicle is a 2002 International school bus that was donated by a local school district and outfitted by members of the department.
