Massachusetts- Eight Western Massachusetts Fire Departments enter mutual aid agreement. CLICK FOR ARTICLE. Posted in April.

Massachusetts- 11 fire departments enter agreement that allows them to exchange personnel if needed during the COVID-19 state of emergency. The departments of Athol, Barre, Erving, Gardner, New Salem, Orange, Petersham, Phillipston, Royalston, Templeton and Wendell may share manpower if necessary due to members falling ill or having to quarantene from the COVID-19 virus. Barre, Mass Fire Department- has hired Call FF/EMT Christina Gustafson as the department's newest full time Firefighter. Posted in June.

Belmont, Mass Fire Department- Fire Chief David Frizzell has retired. He served as chief since 2004. Posted in September.

Berkley, Mass Fire Department- has acquired a 1997 Ford F-350 250/350/Omaha brush truck. It has previously served in Medway, Mass. Posted in April.

Beverly, Mass Fire Department- is borrowing a Boston spare ladder truck after reserve Truck 2 went out of service for mechanical reasons. The city's primary ladder, Truck 1, has been out of service for repairs which left the department without a ladder truck. Posted in July.

Beverly, Mass Fire Department- Fire Chief Paul Cotter has announced he will retired after 34 years of service. Posted in August.

Billerica, Mass Fire Department- Engine 3 has been temporarily relocated to 6 Grove Street while the new Pinehurst fire station is under construction. Posted in June.

Blackstone, Mass Fire Department- late fire chief honored with station dedication. CLICK FOR ARTICLE. Posted in March.

Bolton, Mass Fire Department- Bolton EMS has merged with the fire department and is now operated as one department under the fire chief. Posted in January.

Bondsville Fire (Palmer, Mass)- recently placed into service a 2016 Ford F-550/Pierce 250/280/10F light rescue as Squad 31. It replaces a 1994 International rescue and a brush truck. The truck had served with the South Hopkins, KY Fire Department and was purchased when the fire station had caught fire, causing all of their apparatus to be destroyed. The unit was used until late 2019 and then sold to Bondsville. Posted May 2020.

Boston- Lieutenant Kevin Kelly honored 11 years after death. CLICK FOR ARTICLE. Posted in January.

Boston Fire Department- has taken delivery of a 2005 Stewart & Stevenson/2019 Acela 500/1000/30F brush/high-water rescue unit. It will replace Brush 55's current 1997 International. Posted in February.

Boston Fire Department- Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn will retire on March 12th after nearly 36 years of service. Posted in March.

Boston Fire Department- has assigned a 2009 E-One Cyclone II 1250/500 to Engine 20. It had previously served with Engine 30 and Engine 21. Posted in March.

Boston Fire Department- has appointed John Demsey as new Fire Commissioner. CLICK FOR ARTICLE. Posted in April.

Boston Fire Department- Hackney has completed construction/installation of a new dive rescue body on the 2011 International 4400 chassis of the previous dive rescue unit (J20). The Hackney FP0778R body features a 20.8-ft heavy rescue body with seven (7) roll-up doors and forward personnel compartment. Posted in April.

Boston Fire Department- has new 2020 Chevy Suburbans for the District 1 Chief and the Safety Chief (H1). Posted in April.

Boston Fire Department- The Collapse Rescue (H6) has returned to service aftr having the 1997 Hackney body re-mounted to a 2020 Freightliner M2 chassis. Posted in April.

Boston MedFlight- has re-mounted MedFlight 10's 2015 Life Line body to a new 2019 Freightliner M2 106 chassis. Posted in March.

Brewster, Mass Fire Department- has been awarded a $29.000 Federal grant for vehicle extrication equipment. Posted in August.

Bridgewater, Mass Fire Department- Captain Paul Lamoureux has retired after 35 years of full time service, and previous 4 years as Call Firefighter in West Bridgewater. Paul will continue on as a Call Firefighter / Captain for Plympton Fire/EMS. Posted in January.

Brockton, Mass Fire Department- Firefighter Carol Dawkins has retired after 21 years of service. Carol served 27 years in the U.S. Navy before being hired by the fire departmenat and retires at the mandated age of 65. Posted in August.

Cambridge, Mass Fire Department- Ladder 4 has placed into service a 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 105' RMA that had previously served as Ladder 1. Posted in March.

Chatham, Mass Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $47,619.05 for EMS training aids. Posted in August.

Danvers, Mass Fire Department- has named Acting Fire Chief Robert Amerault as the permanent Fire Chief. Brian Barry has also been promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. Posted in September.

Dighton, Mass Fire Department- has placed into service a 1999 E-One Cyclone 1500/500/75' RMA as Ladder 1. It previously served in Sudbury, Mass. Posted in July.

Dudley, Mass Fire Department- recently placed into service a 1988 Hummer as Forestry 3 and a 2019 Zodiac inflatable as Marine 1.

East Longmeadow, Mass Fire Department- Palmer Ambulance has donated a 2007 Ford E-350/Medix ambulance to the department. Posted in April.

East Bridgewater, Mass Fire Department- has been awarded a Federal grant in the amount of $43,785.71 for vehicle extrication equipment. Posted in August.

Franklin, Mass Fire Department- has established the rank of Battalion Chief and created 4 more positions within the department. Total staffing now consists of 52 full-time members. The breakdown by rank is: Chief of Department, 2 Deputy Chiefs (1 admin/1 operations) and 1 EMS Captain for administrative. On the suppressions side, the breakdown is: 4 Battalion Chiefs, 4 Captains, 4 Lieutenants, and 36 Firefighters working in 4 groups. Posted in July.

Hanson, Mass Fire Department- has received a Federal grant in the amount of $200,000.00 for firefighter breathing apparatus.

Holyoke, Mass Fire Department- has promoted Captain Kirk Krause to Deputy Fire Chief. Posted in March.

Hyannis, Mass Fire Department- has acquired Newburyport's former 41' fireboat. Posted in August.

Lawrence, Mass Fire Department- Engine Company 5 has been deactivated and Engine 8 reactivated. The 2015 KME Severe Service 1500/750/30F assigned to Engine 5 has been reassigned as Engine 8 and the crew has moved to the station located at 311 Ames Street, which is now open. Posted in April.
