2019 WITHIN NEW ENGLAND DEATH NOTICES

New Haven, CT Firefighter George Browne passed away at the age of 46 on April 26th.

Glendale (Stamford, CT) Firefighter James F. Grabowski passed away at the age of 67.

Stanidsh, ME Volunteer Firefighter/U.S. Marine Tyler Wallingford killed in shooting. CLICK FOR ARTICLE.

Retired Lawrence, MA Firefighter John Carroll passed away on April 4th. John served as union president, was an EMT/Dispatcher for LGH and Northeast CMED, and a Vietnam Veteran.

Retired Glastonbury, CT Deputy Chief Donald “Pete” Cowles passed away on Wednesday, April 10th.

Maine State Trooper Ben Campbell was killed on I95 when a truck tire came oose and struck him while he was assisting a disabled motorist.

Retired Fairfield, VT Fire Chief Lyndon Corey passed away.

Former West Haven, CT Firefighter James Woodman passed away. He was injured on the job on October 5, 1999 only 2 days out of the academy. He was seriously injured after the ambulance he was riding was involved in a crash. He would not work as a firefighter again after that accident.

Retired Hope Valley-Wyoming, RI Fire Chief Frederick Stanley passed away at the age of 83.

Retired Revere, MA Deputy Chief George P. Taglieri Jr passed away at the age of 78. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam.

Retired Vermont Firefighter Robert M. Beattie Sr passed away at the age of 87. He served the Stowe Fire Department for 40 years and then another 20 years with the Mount Snow and Lake Hiawatha Fire Departments (he was assistant chief in Lake Hiawatha). He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Providence, RI Retired Chief of Department Al Bertoncini passed away on March 20th.

Retired Arlington, MA Firefighter John "Jack" E. Cuqua passed away on March 9th at the age of 82.

Raymond J. Chaput, 87, passed away on March 10th. He had served the Twin Mountains, NH Fire Department as a fire warden, arson investigator and also worked on the ambulance.

Harrisville, RI Firefighter Ryan J. Ferris, 39, passed away from injuries received in a motor vehicle crash.

Oxford, ME Fire Chief Gary Sacco, 63, passed away after suffering a medical emergency at the services for fallen fire Captain Joel Barnes.

Wells, ME Retired Fire Chief Norman V. Brown Sr passed away at the age of 76.

Jamestown, RI Retired Fire Chief Joseph W. Tiexiera passed away at the age of 84.

Longtime Rutland, VT Firefighter Ira (Bud) L. Earle III, passed away at the age of 79 after a battle with cancer.

LODD- Medford, MA Firefighter Steve Pina passed away from occupational cancer.

Active Duty North Attleboro, MA Firefighter Chris Cornetta passed away from a medical emergency while shoveling snow.

LODD- Berwick, ME Captain Joel Barnes, 32, was killed in a 4 alarm structure fire on March 2nd.

Active Duty Lexington, MA Firefighter John B. Ritchie passed away.

Naugatuck, CT Retired Firefighter Leo Roberts passed away.

LODD- Marion, MA Firefighter Thomas Nye, 72, passed away from a heart attack after helping fight a chimney fire. He had served as a call firefighter in Marion for 45 years.

Wallinford, CT Volunteer Firefighter Michael Cyganik passed away at the age of 55 from cancer.

Somers, CT Fire Department Engineer William Bouchelle passed away on February 25th after a brief illness. He had 45 years with the department.

Retired Franklin, MA Captain Paul Quinn passed away at the age of 69.

Watertown, Mass retired Fire Chief Paul McCaffrey passed away from occupantional cancer.

Former University of Connecticut Fire Department Lieutenant Heidi Vaughan passed away at the age of 41 after battling cancer.

Retired Fire Chief Robert Burke passed away. He served as chief in 3 Maine Fire Departments: Bangor, Orono and Old Town.

South Fire District (Middletown, CT) Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Steve Krol passed away unexpectedly at the age of 64.

Retired Meadowood County Area, NH Fire Chief Robert H. Murray Jr., 84, passed away on February 9, 2019.

Retired Lawrence, MA Firefighter and WWII Veteran Henry Tuminowski passed away at the age of 103.

Rockport, MA Lieutenant Kris Juncker Jr passed away on February 9th from cancer.

Long time Pepperell, MA Fire Captain Paul Tierney passed away on January 24th.

Bethel, CT Firefighter Ira Pollack passed away at the age of 67.

Hinsdale, NH Firefighter John Burnham passed away.

Retired Rollinsford, NH Assistant Chief Kevin L. Hurd, 65, passed away on January 12th.

Retired Stoneham, Mass Firefighter Charlie Greenleaf passed away.

Stratham, New Hampshire former Firefighter, Selectman and Building Inspector Terry Barnes, 77, was killed when struck by a car when he was crossing the street.

Gilmanton Iron Works, NH former Fire Chief David Holton Russell passed away on New Years Eve, 2018.



2019 OUT OF NEW ENGLAND LINE OF DUTY DEATH NOTICES

LODD- Appleton, WI Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard, 47, was shot and killed while working at a medical emergency call.

LODD- Argyle, SD Volunteer Firefighter Dwain Hudson passed away after suffering a medical emergency while enroute to a wildfire.

FDNY Firefighter Christopher A. Slutman, 43, of Ladder Company 27 in the South Bronx died as a result of injuries sustained while on active duty in Afghanistan, while serving in the United States Marine Corps on Monday, April 8.

U.S. Forest Service Captain Daniel J. Laird, 41, of the Tahoe Helitack, CA crew was killed in a helicopter crash during a controlled burn.

LODD- Philadelphia, PA Firefighter Michael Bernstein, 46, passed away after suffering a medical emergency while on duty.

LODD- Godfrey, IL Fire Protection District Captain Jacob Ringering, 37, died from injuries received at a house fire when the building collapsed.

LODD- Fayette County, TN Fire Chief Jason Byrd, 42, passed away after suffering a medical emergency at a fire scene.

LODD- Howell, MS Volunteer Fire Chief Bobby Dunnaway, 72, passed away after having a medical emergency at an incident scene.

LODD- FDNY Firefighter Steven H. Pollard, 30, of Ladder 170, fell 52 feet from the Belt Parkway Bridge in Brooklyn and died from the injuries received.

LODD- Clinton, IA Lieutenant Eric Hosette, 33, was killed in an explosion while fighting a fire at a grain storage silo.
