WEBMASTER'S PAGE

John M. Galla

John M. Galla In 1997, with some suggestions from family and friends, I decided to create a webpage to share fire related photos and information. At first, it was a single page site with six photos that rotated weekly and some apparatus news. After a short time I started a 2nd page to the site where I did department profiles once or twice a month. I then added Patch Central, which not only gave pictures of patches, but other photographs and information to compliment them. In October of 2000, I secured the domain name www.firenews.org and merged the 2 sites into this current one and created Northeast Firenews. Today, the site is a giant compared to what I started with containing hundreds of thousands of photos more information than most even know what to do with. As of 2014, there are over 2,000 separate pages to the site. I am a Lieutenant with the Stoneham, Mass Fire Department (L-2116) and have had an interest in the fire service for as long as I can remember. It is an honor to call myself a professional firefighter and enjoy the many friends that I have met in my time on the job and doing the site. I have a wondeful wife, two great kids, and have been a big Boston Bruins fan for many years. I am a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard and served aboard the USCGC Spencer. This page would not be what it is today if it were not for the contributions of all those who send in information and photos. Thank you to all those that help out with keeping this site as up to date as possible.
