From Chief Ken Jones of the Meredith, NH Fire Department: It is with deep regret that Chief Ken Jones of the Meredith Fire Department announces the passing of Captain, and LRMFA retired Lieutenant, Dave Parker. Captain Parker was an active member of the Meredith Fire Department starting December 1, 1998 as a firefighter. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2001 and promoted to Meredith Fire Central Station Captain in 2016, where he served until the time of his passing. In addition, Captain Parker served as a lieutenant at Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid from August 4, 2002 through is retirement on August 30th, 2024. Captain Parker was instrumental in bringing the Meredith Fire Department into the computer age. He managed the informational technology programs utilized by the fire department and the programing of the mobile and portable radios. As Central Station Captain, he managed the personnel assigned to Central Station and was an "all apparatus operator." Fire Chief Ken Jones and the members of the Meredith Fire Department wish to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Captain David Parker and he will be greatly missed. It is with deep regret that Chief Ken Jones of the Meredith Fire Department announces the passing of retired Meredith Fire Chief Frederic (Fred) Copp. Chief Copp started his career with the Meredith Fire Department in 1960. He was promoted to call Fire Chief in 1982 and later become the first career fire chief in 1986, where he served until his retirement in 1996. Fire Chief Ken Jones and the members of the Meredith Fire Department wish to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Retired Chief Fredeick "Fred" Cobb and he will be greatly missed. Retired Abington, MA Firefighter Charles Whitman Jr. passed away on Sunday, April 12th. Courtesy Abington Fire Department: "“Charlie” served on the department for 41 years when he retired in 2010. He was known for his old school meals for the duty crew, which he cooked and served each group he worked with. Charlie was a third generation firefighter for Abington following in the footsteps of his father Charles Sr. and his grandfather who served as the Abington Fire Chief from 1952-57. Our sincere condolences to Charlie’s friends and loved ones." Nashua, NH Fire Alarm Supervisor Samantha Allen passed away. Sam loved being part of Nashua Fire Rescue, and her presence will be profoundly missed, her contributions to our organization and her care for those around her will not be forgotten. Retired Lawrence Fire Department Fire Alarm Superintendent and Vietnam Veteran Frank Ahearn passed away on April 4th at the age of 80. Rising through the ranks from firefighter to officer and ultimately, Chief Parent never lost sight of what mattered most — the men. He was a true union firefighter at heart. No matter the rank on his collar, he never let the members feel unheard. He stood for fairness, fought for his people, and carried the weight of leadership with integrity and respect. His door was always open, his word meant something, and his presence made this department stronger. Chief Parent's legacy is not just in the years he served, but in the culture he helped build — one of brotherhood, accountability, and pride in the job. We extend our deepest condolences to the Parent family, his friends, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him. Rest easy, Chief. We've got it from here." Retired Somerville, MA Firefighter Thomas J. Foster passed away on March 31st. Firefighter Foster was appointed on December 10, 1959 and retired on January 20, 1991. Retired Lawrence, MA Firefighter Paul Sirois passed away on March 29th at the age of 76. York, ME Ambulance Paramedic Rory Putnam has passed away after a long battle with heart disease. Retired Lawrence, MA Firefighter Lawrence Retelle Sr passed away on March 31st at the age of 95. Per the department's announcement, Firefighter Sullivan was appointed on December 26, 1967 and retired on August 18, 1977. He served on the Somerville Fire Department along with his brothers, Kevin and Patrick, and was the uncle of retired Chief Patrick Sullivan III. Retired Boston Lieutenant Paul Finn passed away on January 5th. He served as a firefighter on Ladder 20 and Engine 21 and as a Lieutenant on Engine 56, Ladder 1, Engine 33, the Mobile Command Post, and Engine 8.
